DEXTER – Velma (Withee) Melvin, 87, went home to be with the Lord May 25, 2012, with her loving family by her side. She was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Dexter, a daughter of Wallace and Emma Withee Sr.
She was a Christian woman who devoted her life to Jesus. Velma was a member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, Dexter, for more than 40 years and considered the members to be like her second family. She was a loving mother who enjoyed every moment she spent with her children. She looked forward to the weekly visits, shopping trips and pizza she shared with them. Velma was a kind and gentle person, and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Paradis of Corinna, Pamela Thompson of Dexter and Vicky and husband, Glen Manning, of Etna; three sons, Earl Woodbury Jr. and wife, Roberta, of Burnham, Christopher Ladd and wife, Kathy, of England and Michael Woodbury and wife, Deborah, of Dexter; one brother, Wallace Withee Jr. of Bangor; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside committal services will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. (Bangor Daily News posted 5/27/2012)
