EDWARD  'EDGAR'   L.   BREWER

Edgar L. Brewer, who had been an invalid for several years, died at 3 o'clock last Saturday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Pineo at the age of 81 years, 8 mnths, 10 days.  Funeral services were held from the Pineo residence on the corner of Mt. desert and Main Streets at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon and internment was in the Mount Desert Cemetery on Mt. Desert  street.  Rev. J.H. Logie, Rector of the Church of Our Father, Hulls cove, officiated and a quartet composed of Frank Whitmore, Harold Whitmore, G. Prescott Cleaves and Fred Wescott, sang.  Bearers were Frank Chester, Fred and Orient Brewer, all Nephews, and David and Serenus Rodick.
Mr. Brewer was the son of Edward Brewer who came to Hulls Cove from Freeport and engaged in the milling and lumbering industry, and who was patriarch of the Brewer family on this island.  The deceased assisted his father in the milling and lumbering operations, but for the past 15 years he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Pineo - his second wife, Mrs. Zena Brewer, being an Aunt of Mrs. Pineo.  For the past few years he was in poor health, suffering much from rheumatism, and gradually became worn out.
Besides a host of nephews and more distant relatives among the Brewers, Mr. Brewer leaves a son, Edgar Brewer, book-keeper and treasurer of the Bangor Commercial, who has three daughters, Mrs. William Quimby of this place, being one, also a sister, Mrs. Marian H. McFarland of Salisbury Cove.
The many beautiful floral offerings showed the esteem in which Mr. Brewer was held.
