Damariscotta - Mrs. Estella S. Stevens, 82, widow of Walter Stevens, died Saturday in a Rockland nursing home.
She was born in Aroostook December 27, 1889.
Survivors include two sons; Raymond of Nobleboro and Rupert of West Rockport; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Waning of Newcastle and Mrs. Dorothy Stevens of Damariscotta; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Strong Funeral Home with the Rev. William Carter officiating.
Burial will be in Sheepscot Cemetery.
She married Walter A. Stevens on 16 August 1906, he was listed as a Machinest, she was 18 and he was 24 at time of marriage.
Records show middle name as E or S.
One record has her born in Aroostook, another states she was born in Alua Maine, and another states she was born in arrowsic Maine, which sounds like Aroostook but is located in Sagadahoc county.
Interestingly, on a 1900 census she is listed as a boarder at the home of John P. Higgins and Harriett W. Higgins of Arrowsic Maine. She is listed as age 12 and the only boarder.
