PIERCE - NELLIE FRANCES - Seal Harbor, 1896

NELLIE  FRANCES  PIERCE

Bar Harbor Record
Jan. 22,  1896

Nellie Frances Pierce, wife of Walden Pierce of Seal Harbor, died on Thursday, Jan. 9,  at 10;45 p.m., aged 28 years, 3 months, 23 days.  The Rev. J.R. Norwood, rector St. Mary's By The Sea, conducted the funeral service at her late residence and preached a sermon appropriate to the occassion.  Since August Mrs. Pierce suffered from that fell disease to which she finally gave way, consumption.  This disease had gained considerable headway before she realized the danger she was in.  But from the very first she proved to be a most heroic and faithful Christian.  Considering the fact that she was so young, with three beautiful children, a most careful loving and faithful husband, she bore her sickness with wonderful patience.  She was Baptized by and had received the "Bread of Life" at the hands of Rev. J.R. Norwood.  She leaves behind her a broken hearted husband and three children to mourn their loss.  They are happy in the knowledge that she fulfilled the Saviour's command, "Abide to me,"
