H. Burnill Gilbert Sr., 81, Town Hill died Thursday in the MDI hospital after a short illness.
He was born March 23,  1888 in Tremont, the son of the late Herman and Mary Ann (Lally) Gilbert.
When he small child the family moved to Bar Harbor where he spent his entire life.
On May 30, 1903 he was united in marriage to Sussie Thomas of Eden, who survives.
For Sixty one years he conducted the Mt. View Farm, where he met and made many friends who will mourn his passing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, H. Burnell Jr. and Chandler E.;  a daughter, Mrs. James H. Joyce, a grand-daughter, Susan Elanor Joyce and a sister, Mrs. Sherman Salisbury.  His brother, Harvey L. Gilbert passed away Sunday, August 21, at the same hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the Town Hill Church by Rev. Joseph T. Mathews.
