Mrs.  Alice  Rosebrook  Hinch

Funeral services for Mrs. John T. Hinch, who died very suddenly Thursday afternoon at the home of her son, Melville C. Foster in Arlington, Mass., where she, with Dr. Hinch, was visiting, were held on Sunday afternoon at 9 o'clock at the Hinch residence at High Street.  There was a large attendance and the many beautiful flowers expressed the thought of many friends.  Rev. William E. Patterson, rector of St. Saviour's Church officiated.  The bearers were John H. Stafford, George F. Berry, Dr. John B. Ells, Dr. L. Sherman Cleaves, H.M. Kodgkins, C.A. Keucher.  The burial was at Ledgelawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Hinch's maiden name was Alice Rosebrook Young.  She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Elizabeth Tracy Young and was born 70 years ago in Gouldsboro.  She came to Bar Harbor in her girlhood and has lived here ever since.  She was proprietor of the Toy Shop, one of the town's oldest and best known business enterprises having a history of success for more than half century.  In 1902, in October, Dr. and Mrs. Hinch were married here in Bar Harbor.
Mrs. Hinch leaves, besides her husband, three children, by a former marriage;  Melville Foster of Arlington;  Mrs. Norman Merrill of Newburyport, G. Fuller Foster of Framingham;  a sister, Mrs. William Higgins of Waverly, Mass.;  eight grandchildren, Mrs. Donald Conners of Arlington, John Foster of Sydney,  Australia, Frank Dinsmore Foster of Arlington, Alice, Clarie, and Richard Foster of Framungham, Richard and Robert Merrill of Newburyport; and a great grandson, David Connors, of Arlington, Mass.
Mrs. Hinch was a woman of reserved nature but she was beloved all who knew her intimately and her death brought grief to many friends.  Her devotion to her children and grandchildren, her interest in all that pertained to them and her affection for her family expressed in many ways was reflected also in her contact with her friends.  Her place is one never to be filled.
