CALLAHAN - MICHAEL F. "NORWOOD" - Bidderford
Biddeford Daily Journal Bio 12/1/1955
Mrs. Mary Callahan, 94, one of Biddeford's oldest lifelong residents, widow of Michael F. Callahan, a former Hills Beach resident for many years, died at her home, 5 Taylor Street, early today.
Mrs. Callahan was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Mitchell) Norwood. She was a member of one of the oldest families of the South Biddeford section. For many years, she and her late husband operated Callahan's summer hotel and grocery store at Hills Beach. The place was the scene of numerous social parties, political meetings and clambakes during the late 1890 period, in addition to being a popular stopping place for summer visitors. Mr. Callahan died several years ago. In late years Mrs. Callahan and her daughter Mary Callahan have resided on Taylor Street here. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church.
Besides her daughter she is survived by two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary church Saturday morning at 9. Friends may call at the Dennett and Craig funeral home Friday afternoon and evening and prior to the hour of services.
