MARINO - MARILYNE B. - Bar Harbor



Marilyne B. Marino, 90, peacefully passed away Dec. 20, 2012, at the Birch Bay Village residential facility in Bar Harbor, while in the company of family and dear friends. She was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Boston, daughter of Harold E. and Elizabeth G. (Smith) Barnes.

During her younger years she was taught by her father to be an avid hunter and fisherman, and accompanied him on many hunting and fishing trips. She attended kindergarten through 12th grade in Bar Harbor, and attended Worcester Normal School and graduated with a degree in business administration. Shortly after graduation she met her husband, Hank, while out for a night on the town in Boston with her girlfriends. Marilyne and Hank married Sept. 26, 1944, and began a family in Bar Harbor.

She worked at Mount Desert Island Hospital. After years of service at the hospital and wanting to spend more time with her husband, she moved on and went to work for Hank as a bookkeeper at H&H Red & White until their retirement in 1984.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Joyce & Ellen; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews.

Marilyne was predeceased by her husband, Herman "Hank" Marino; brother, Keith B. Barnes; and daughter, Marilyne E. Akerley.
Spring interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor. (Bangor Daily News 12/27/2012)
