Lena May Dow 78 died Jan 27, 2003 at a Pittsfield hospital following a short period of ill health. She was born in Newport April 8, 1924 the daughter of George A and Marion (Lynds) Dow. She attended Dixmont and Newport School and was a graduate of Newport High School. Lena was a member of the Dixmont Methodist Church in Dixmont and a member of the Dixmont Ladies Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making quilts for her family and friends. She loved to read, enjoyed sewing and loved life to the fullest. She is survived by two brothers Carl Irving Dow of Spencer, Mass and Lawrence Dow of Buxton Me., several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters Angus, Douglas, Lewis, Inez Hodge, and Ella Gray. Friends may call from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home 34 High St. Newport. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Spring internment will be in the Sawyer Cemetery Plymouth.
