De Loraine A. Higgins died at his home at West Eden Sunday morning, aged 64 years, after suffering with cancer for two years.  He was a much respected citizen, a kind husband and father and will be sadly missed.  He was a faithful member of the G.A.R. Post.
He leaves a widow, and three children, Miss Lottie, Mrs. William Richards and Jesse H. to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. A.M. MacDonald, with singing by the Bar Harbor quartet.  Internment will be at Indian point.  The floral offerings were many and beautiful, completely covering the casket over which was laid the American flag.  A delegation from the local G.A.R. attended the funeral and assisted with the solemn and beautiful army service for the dead.
