DEXTER, Verna M. Curtis, 79, went to be with the Lord October 4, 2003, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born October 29, 1923, in Bangor, daughter of Llewellyn and Grace (Flagg) Woodbury. She was a member of the Dexter Pentecostal Church and longtime Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Lyman Curtis Sr. of Dexter; 4 sons, Rev. Lyman Curtis Jr. and his wife Patricia, Raymond and his wife Bonnie all of Dexter, Rev. David Curtis and his wife Deborah of Chipman, New Brunswick, and James Curtis of Waterville; 4 daughters, Grace and her husband, Herbert Giles and Carla Curtis all of Dexter, Jackie and her husband, Galen Campbell of Guilford, Rhoda White of Dexter; a brother, Jack Woodbury of Hartland; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and a close friend, Katherine Elwell of Dexter. She was predeceased by a sister, Alva Clark; 3 brothers, Eugene Woodbury, Louis Woodbury and Carl Woodbury.
Friends may call Monday October 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St in Dexter. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the Dexter Pentecostal Church with Rev. Sterling Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations to the Dexter Pentecostal Church, 48 Railroad Avenue, Dexter, ME 04930.
