NORWOOD - GEORGE E. - Bidderford



George Norwood - a life long resident of 571 Pool Road, Biddeford, died on May 13, 1919 at age 73. Born in Biddeford on September 5, 1846, the first of 12 children born to Albert Norwood of Biddeford and Mary Mitchell of Saco and attended Biddeford schools.

He married Sarah E. Dodge of Albany, NY on August 28, 1869 in Mt. Desert Island in Hancock County, Maine and had seven children including Georgia (Norwood) Wormwood, Grace (Norwood) Robbins, Alice (Norwood) Clement, Edwin Norwood, Blanche (Norwood) Robbins; William Norwood, and Charles Norwood.

George was a life-long fisherman and seaman.

The cause of death was Apoplexy, the first attack occurring three years ago, the last attack lasting only three days.

The funeral for George was held Thursday afternoon, May 15, 1919, with services at his late home on the Pool Road and were private. Rev. C. W. Harrison officiated. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

The burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford although he lived adjacent to The Oaks Cemetery on Pool Road where his parents and many of his siblings eventually were buried.
