LEAVITT - EDMUND F. - Corinna

CORINNA - Edmund F. Leavitt, 88, died July 31, 2002, at a Dexter healthcare facility. He was born March 28, 1914, at Exeter, a son of William and Lena (Landry) Leavitt. Ed attended Exeter schools and worked at Moosehead Woolen Mill in Corinna. He later worked for a time at a woolen mill in Tilton, N.H., before serving in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 during the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. After the war, he owned and operated Ed's Barber Shop in Corinna for 50 years. He was a retired volunteer fireman in Corinna, enjoyed playing a number of musical instruments, loved to listen to music and will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a life member of the Corinna American Legion Post No. 73, and was a 32nd Degree Mason, Parian Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Anah Temple Shrine and was also a member of the Tri-County Shrine Club.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Jody" (Bird) Leavitt of Corinna; a daughter, Margaret and husband, Jeffrey Drinkwater of Guilford; grandsons, Andrew Bell of Hartland and David Bell of Ripley; a stepson and wife, Dr. Kenneth and Martha Bouchard of Royalston, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Jolene Duplisea and husband, Glen of Dexter; two stepgrandchildren, Gretchen and Stephanie Duplisea of Dexter; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Boyce of Bangor and Rowena Burrill of Presque Isle; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Corinna Village Cemetery.
