Capt. Enoch B. Stanley, age 82 years, 5 months, 3 days, died Friday, January 9th, at 3 p.m., after five weeks of severe suffering from heart trouble.  Nine years ago during an attract of pneumonia it was discovered that Capt. Stanley's heart was weak.  Previous to that time he had been a remarkably smart and successful fisherman, and no young man could have entered more earnestly into the mackerel selling business than did he, and when on account of old age and impaired health he was forced to give up to others the command of his favorite vessel it was a very great sacrifice to him.  although compelled to remain out of his vessel most of the time, yet his delight was to get on board to command, if only for a short time, and no persuasions could induce him to abandon the salt water, much of his time in late years being spent in boat fishing and lobstering.   During his entire life Capt. Stanley had been a man of exemplary habits and frugal industry.  He was ever active in the affairs of the town, holding positions of trust which he filled conscientiously.  funeral services were held Sunday, conducted by Rev. C.N. Davie, and internment was in the grave yard on the hill where Captain Stanley has had reserved since 1843, a spot for his last resting place.  He leaves a widow, one daughter, and seven sons, also a brother and sister, Capt. William Stanley and Mrs. Mary L. Rulger.
