Mr. William Wood of this village passed away at 9;30 last Monday morning, at the age of 89 years.  Through his long, honorable life Mr. Wood won the respect and love of his townsmen and neighbors, and will be much missed by all.  He leaves two sons, Albert and Joseph D. of West Gouldsboro, one daughter, Mrs. Sophia Haven of Hancock to mourn.  Two brothers, John and Samuel G. survive him.  Mr. Wood enjoyed the personal friendship through his life of the Hon. James G. Blaine by whom he was held in high esteem.  By his death is removed one of the last of a long list of men prominent in this section half a century ago, who had more than a local reputation for intelligence, judgement and good citizenship.
