SARGENT - HENRY F. - Winter Harbor

Bar Harbor Record
Feb. 11, 1903

Henry F. Sargent of Winter Harbor generally known as "Uncle Henry,"  died of heart failure at his home Feb. 2 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 13 days.  For several years he had been in beeble health and frequently suffered from attacks of heart disease but he seemed as well as usual until Sunday night, having attended church in the morning.  He leaves a widow, "Aunt Rachel,"  who was 87 years old the 4th of July last, and seven children who are men and women  grown;  Mrs. Nancy A. Moon, Rockland;  Mrs. Hattie E. Dillant, Warren;  Mrs. Mary A. Rand, Mrs. Carrie Matthews, William H. Sargent, Mrs. Emma Myrick and Simeon W. Sargent of Winter Harbor.  The death is the first break in the family.
"Uncle Henry" and "Aunt Rachel" have lived together in married life for sixty-six years and she is now completely broken down over the loss of her husband.  The old folks have lived with and been cared for by their daughter, Mrs. Mary Rand and her husband, Captain Loring Rand and everything that care and medical skill could do has been done to alleviate the sufferings of the father and mother.
"Uncle Henry" was regarded by every one who knew him, and especially by the town's people as an honest man, a devoted Christian and a hard working citizen and his loss will be deeply felt by the community.
